It has been a while since I last updated this blog. Then too, I have been busy with my conservative blogs with this election season.
Yesterday marked a new day in my life, as I had just gotten a second pair of custom fit shoes. I have to go the custom fit shoe route as when I go either Payless, Kmart, or the other chain stores I have to go back 3 months later or so and get another pair because I wear them out so quickly. Plus my foot sizes are way too different. (My left foot is a size 11EEEEE [yes ladies and gentlemen. That is 5 E’s or EXTRA wide!] and my right foot is a size 8EEEEE so I always get shoes that fit my biggest foot) When I was younger mom would find the two pairs of shoes and pick out one shoe from each to wear for me, but the clerks had said that was not good, so from then on mom and dad would always get the pair of shoes that are the size of my largest foot, which would leave a little extra room in my right foot, and that was the foot which had the worn out shoe.
In 2005 I had received my first pair of custom shoes from an ortho clinic here in Fort Myers, and they worked just well.
They eventually started wearing low (as in the heel area) in 2010 and my mom had tried getting new shoes for me, but one of the pedorthists had said I needed braces to support my leg and so mom had not gone any further with them, so I wound up wearing my old shoes to my sister’s wedding. They worked out fine up until about this past May or so when I started seeing my left toe sticking out of my shoe. Then on September 26th, I went to see Dr. Mina, a podiatrist in my area of North Fort Myers, and the wheels were set in motion for me to get new shoes. On October 1, I met the lovely and talented Tara Evans, a pedorthist who deals with molding and casting of feet for custom-made shoes, and had my feet plastered so she can get a good enough mold for my shoes.
On October 2nd, 9th, and 16th, I had my legs wrapped and kept them elevated to try to alleviate the swelling, and then last Wednesday Tara had sent me a pic on Facebook with the new shoes so I can give them the old eyeball test before wearing them.
Then we had a little case of miscommunication between myself, my mom, and Tara (which was mostly on my part as I had thought I told mom to handle the final thing with Tara but I had made an error) and we finally got it situated yesterday in Dr. Mina’s office and as I mentioned on Facebook,
My first pair of custom shoes

And here is the finishing touch, me with the second pair of custom shoes
I would like to thank Tara Evans and Dr. John Mina for all their fine work in not only getting my shoes but also in the care for the gunboats I call feet.
